Hams in Space Speaker Biographies

“Hams in Space” is comprised of three long time friends, Randy Schulze, Eddy Paul, and Jeremy Widner who met while all three were employed together with Information Services and Systems Development at Sprint during the mid to late 1990’s. Although coming from different areas of the US, each enjoyed common interests which included Amateur Radio.

Randy Schulze – WØICQ (Formerly KDØHKD): Was born at Omaha, Nebraska and grew up at Kearney, Nebraska, later attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney, (then known as Kearney State College,) and Dana College at Blair, Nebraska majoring in Radio Broadcasting. Although involved in radio communications professionally throughout his adult life, Randy did not obtain his Technician Class Armature Radio License until the spring of 2009, and upgraded to General in the Fall of 2009. Eddy’s other interests include Remote Control Airplanes, Cowboy Action Shooting, and Fishing.

UPDATE: I'm very sad to report that my dear friend, KY0F-Eddy Paul passed away on December 18, 2019. Eddy and I, along with AC0DX - Jeremy Widner worked together at Sprint back in the 90's. We became fishing buddies, and all became involved in Amateur Radio in 2009. Eddy was a member of the Radio Amateurs of Johnson County, and worked part time at Associated Radio in Overland Park, Kansas.

You might recall Eddy as one of my partners on the Hams in Space Presentation Team. We traveled to radio club meetings and Hamfests all over the Midwest, and were invited to provide our presentation at the Dayton National Hamvention on two occasions. Between fishing and Hamfests, Eddy and I shared countless miles on road trips to Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Ohio.

He was a kind gentle sole with an outstanding sense of humor. Eddy enjoyed life with family, friends, and he always caught his limit.

I'm really, really going to miss him....
